Being a single mom, sometimes you need to get creative when managing finances. Between working full-time and raising the little chicken nuggets, there’s not a whole lot of time left in the day for budgeting. Throw dating into the mix? Forget it, especially if the kids are young. Read here about my thoughts on Dating as a Single Mom.
Back in 2012, literally a decade ago (where does the time go?), my young boys’ bathroom needed a complete reno. Nothing against embossed wallpaper, mustard yellow and burnt orange paint schemes and shag carpets, but this room needed some TLC.
Tight on time, tight on money and this book just didn’t cut it. So I did what any woman in this situation would do…I called a local Contractor that I knew from my kids’ sports.
The Contractor came over and assessed the situation and deemed the project too big (said no woman ever!) however said he could do a quick fix on a plumbing issue under the sink that was causing a leak. I asked how much and he said around $150, and then winked at me.
Winked at me?!? Hmmm… I’m not body language expert but when you know, you know. So I suggested I do a little manual labour on the pipe he brought before he fixed the leak.
And that my friends, is what being creative when managing finances looks like.
