Who Doesn't Love a Good Deck Shot
After buying a new home, exploring your digs both inside and outside is fun and more often than not – full of surprises. You get to wonder – “why did they build that room without a window?” or “what were they thinking putting up that random wall?”. You get to judge and then course-correct if you have the budget. The deck at my new house was both a head-scratcher and an instant LET’S FIX THIS NOW sorta thing.

I was fortunate (VERY FORTUNATE) to find a local contractor who knew exactly what I wanted and call me crazy – I trusted him immediately. Turns out he’s also from Toronto and we know a lot of the same people. So SCORE!
The first day on the job, two country guys rolled up in their pickups — all grit and ink, cigarettes dangling, barely a smile between them. But one of them… there was something about him. The way he moved, the quiet confidence — I felt it instantly.
He did too. The shy smiles that floated between us? It was like we were back in highschool. Every time I heard that diesel engine coming up the drive, my heart beat a little faster — and for two weeks, I lived for it.
A girl does love a big deck!
